Yizhou, a district in the city of Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is renowned as the hometown of Liu Sanjie, a legendary female folk singer of the Zhuang ethnic group. It has made increased efforts to promote its cultural tourism in recent years.

A variety of top-quality travelling routes integrating Yizhou's traditional culture and splendid natural scenery have been launched to enable visitors to experience the beauty of the place.

Here is a three-day travel route in Yizhou.

Day 1

The first stop of this route is Liusanjie Music Fountain Square (刘三姐音乐喷泉广场/Liusanjie Yinyue Penquan Guangchang), a landmark in Yizhou, where visitors can see the 13-meter-high white marble statue for Liu Sanjie and enjoy the Liusanjie song culture.

Then it's off to Huixian (Fairy Meeting) Mountain Scenic Area (会仙山景区/Huixian Shan Jingqu), home of the nation's only monument for Shi Dakai, also known as Wing King or phonetically translated as Yi-Wang, of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851-64) and the earliest name tablet of the 500 arhats in China.

Day 2

Setting out from the downtown area of Yizhou, visitors will first go to Xiangbei River Scenic Area (祥贝河景区/Xiangbei He Jingqu) on the second day. Taking a boat or a bamboo raft at the scenic area allows visitors to enjoy the natural scenery and the site of the water wheel, which can be dated back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

Getting off the boat or bamboo raft, visitors will arrive at the Lizhi Karst Cave (荔枝洞/Lizhi Dong) after about a 10 minute walk.

The last stop of the day is Sanmenyan Temple (三门岩寺/Sanmenyan Si), which can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The numerous Buddha statues in the karst caves here are a must see.

Day 3

Zhuanggulao Scenic Area (壮古佬风景区/Zhuanggulao Fengjing Qu) of the Xiajian River (下枧河/Xiajian He) is the only destination on the third day of this route.

Taking a boat along the river, visitors can not only enjoy the splendid natural scenery along the river, but also experience the folk performances of the Zhuang people.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
