A national canoe and kayak marathon will be held on the Hongshui River in Dahua Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Oct 20.

The competition is sponsored by the Dahua county government, and will have a racing route spanning about 42 kilometers in length.

After the competition, a section of the Hongshui River between Dahua and Tian'e counties spanning hundreds of km will be built into a canoe and kayak tourist route, the first of its kind in China.

The Hongshui River is of extremely high value in its landscape resources, and can be developed into a world-class canoe and kayak-themed tourist attraction, according to the person in charge of the National Shanshui Yangguang Canoe and Kayak Club Alliance.

In addition, a public welfare supporting project for enterprises in Guangxi to help cultivate countrywide famous brands will be launched during the competition.

A platform that connects the small and medium-sized enterprises in the region and consumers will also be established. People who do shopping on the platform can enjoy kayaking sports activities on the Hongshui River free of charge.
