In recent years, the number of days that meet the standard for air quality has continued to increase and the rate of major rivers and drinking water that meet quality standards has reached 100 percent in Luocheng Mulam autonomous county, Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region due to afforestation and greening efforts.

As an important water conservation area at the headwaters of the Pearl River and a natural barrier in Western Guangxi, Luocheng strives to integrate ecological development with poverty alleviation by simultaneously restoring forests and raising local incomes.

Since the beginning of 2018, Luocheng has reforested a total of 2,033.33 hectares, accounting for 80 percent of the annual goal, and planted 450,000 trees, 100 percent of the annual goal.

The region is also focusing on the management of forest resources. The relevant departments have dealt with illegal acquisition and occupation of forest land, as well as deforestation, recovering 193,500 yuan ($29,611.15) in losses.

Luocheng's greening operations have not only increased forest area, but also promote the economic development of the county.

In the first five months of 2018, Luocheng has received a total of 500,000 tourists, bringing in a total of 600 million yuan.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
