Dahua sets up ethnic literary award

An award has been established to foster the promotion of cultural and folk traditions of ethnic groups in Dahua Yao autonomous county.

The "Dahua Baolong Cup" National Literature Award was established by Dahua Yao autonomous county, the Natural Literature Periodical Office of China Writers Association and Guangxi Baolong Investment Co. Ltd.

The preliminary agreement of the award was reached early on Sept 27 last year. The biennial award will include three novels, three prose pieces, three poems and one literary review prize, with 8,000 yuan ($1,226.4) in prize money for each.

The first session of the award will admit works of literature published between Jan 1, 2015 and Dec 31, 2016. The award ceremony is planned to be held in Dahua, Hechi, in March 2017.

The awards will be judged upon their content, artistic value and ability to express the reality of the living conditions, culture and tradition of local ethnic groups.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
