Team Guangxi wins record number of awards at Games

The number of awards the team Guangxi won at the 10th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People's Republic of China hit 51, nine more than last season.

The Guangxi traditional ethnic minority sports delegation made up of 377 members has won four first prizes, 18 second prizes and 29 third place awards.

A total of 310 athletes participated in 12 competitive events such as pearl ball, wood ball, cross-bow shooting, spinning top, shuttlecock, dragon boat and single bamboo drafting and seven exhibition events.

Guangxi pearl ball team lost the championship chance in the finals on Aug 17. Pearl ball is a traditional sports event of the Man ethnic group and originates from the production work of pearl picking.

The sports games, which lasted from Aug 9 to Aug 17, was sponsored by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the State General Administration of Sports and organized by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Government in Erdos.
