The flood-hit Sandao Bay Water Park in Du'an, Hechi, re-opened to visitors on Aug 1 after heavy rain caused damage in the Park.

From 10 pm on June 13 to 3 am on June 15, the Du'an Yao autonomous county suffered torrential rainstorm. The rain caused flooding at mountain slopes and water levels in some rivers exceeded the warning level. Facilities in seven scenic spots in Du'an, including the Sandao Bay and Baxian Park, were damaged to varying degrees. Some of them had close down to ensure people's safety.

After the disaster, Du'an county tourism bureau immediately mobilized staff to inspect and repair the damage in recreational facilities. Some scenic spots have re-opened to visitors from mid-July.

According to the assistant manager of Sandao Bay Scenic Spot, the number of tourists visiting the area peaked again following re-opening. The scenic spot is currently making preparations to host a 300-member tour group on Aug 9.
