This project calls for a production line that can produce 50,000 tons of ultrafine calcite powder annually along with related facilities, on a 200-million-square-meter area. The area has an abundance of high quality calcite (heavy calcium carbonate ore), with more than 5 million tons of proven reserves.

The ore is white and has a calcium oxide content above 99 percent. The region also has two big hydropower stations, with an installed capacity of 1.77 million kW, with a Yantang hydropower station project that will add 600,000 kW, for the area’s economic development and industrialization. The mining site has convenient transportation, which can bring down production costs. The plant is 100 kilometers, or an hour’s drive, from the regional capital of Nanning, 70 km from the Pingguo Railway Station, and a 2.5-hour drive from Fangcheng, Beihai and Qinzhou ports. The plant is on the Hongshui River, which runs to Guizhou and the cities of Wuzhou, Guanghzou, Hong Kong and Macao.

The ultrafine calcite powder is a major filling material, widely used in paper making, ceramics, plastics, rubber, paint, daily-use chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, animal feed, fertilizers, pesticides, and building materials. The countries of Japan, ROK, and Southeast Asia import 300,000 - 500,000 tons of calcium carbonates every year and there are great opportunities for calcite powder in the international market. The project is expected to cost 51.2 million yuan, with 9.6 million of that for funds, and is expected to generate 111 million yuan in sales, 88 million yuan in taxes, and 69 million in profits. The project is supported by favorable policies for national and ethnic county development.
