The project calls for the necessary plants and production facilities for an annual production of 200,000 tons of industrial silicon. Dahua county, in the Guangxi region has an abundance of silicon ore, which contains more than 99 percent of silica, and reserves estimated at above 200 million tons.

The region has two big hydropower stations with a capacity of 1.77 million kW, while a Yantang Hydropower Station project will add 600,000 kW to its installed capacity, giving a boost to Dahua’s economic development and industrialization. The plant will be 100 kilometers from Nanning, the regional capital, or about an hour’s drive, 70 km from the Pingguo railway station, and a 2.5-hour drive from Fangcheng, Beihai and Qinzhou ports. The plant is on the Hongshui River, which runs to Guizhou and the cities of Wuzhou, and ultimately Guanghzou, Hong Kong and Macao. The project is expected to cost 300 million yuan, with 240 million for fixed assets and 60 million for funds.

The industrial silicon is purified monatomic silicon, mainly used in the production of silicone rubber, silicon resin, silicone oil, polycrystalline silicon, and high-purity semiconductor materials. The rate of return is expected to reach 44 percent and have a payback period of three years.
