Martyrs Cemetery and Memorial Hall in Donglan

There are a total of eight exhibition halls with a floor space of 1,420 sq m. In 2009, the Party Committee and local government of Dongle county decided to expand the Cemetery for the 115 anniversary of the birth of Wei Baqun, a hero leader of Guangxi’s peasants’ uprising. The expansion work covered 8 hectare, 5.88 of that for buildings. The design covered the Mausoleum for Generals, Sculptures of Generals, Meeting Square and Wei Bawn Memorial. Previously, the Cemetery and Memorial Hall were called the “Mausoleum of Wei Bawn the Martyr”, with Central Government funding. Then, in 1958, General Zhang Yunyi wrote the inscription for the Memorial Park of Revolutionary Martyrs and Memorial Tower. In February 1963, the Wei Baqun Mausoleum became a cultural site under Guangxi regional protection. Then, on Oct 15, 1986, the State Council put the Memorial Park of Revolutionary Martyrs on its list of memorials under State protection, and gave it its current name.

In April 2011, it joined the National Scenic Spot and Scenic Zone for Red Tourism list and, in December, got national AAAA scenic zone status. Even since the liberation in 1949, the Cemetery and Memorial Hall have always been an important site for traditional revolutionary education in Guangxi.
