Western Beijing, the main industries of which are traditional manufacturing in steel and coal, is striving to introduce high-grade, precision and advanced industrial resources and promote regional industrial upgrading and green development.

In recent years, the Zhongguancun Mentougou Science and Technology Park has expanded its industrial development space, introduced emerging industries such as the Internet, artificial intelligence, and robot research and development as well as high-grade, precision and advanced industries, and increased the vitality of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Rongchuangyida has become the first domestic Jiusan Society Innovation Capacity Center, and the industrial R&D site of Beijing Anpu New Material Development Company is now a robotic intelligent technology innovation center.

Recently, the Jinlongquan Pump Factory, a new example of industrial transformation and upgrading in Western Beijing, was successfully transformed into an intelligent cultural and creative park to serve as a pilot in the Zhongguancun (western Beijing) Artificial Intelligence Technology Park.

On Oct 23, leaders of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, the Mentougou District Government, Zhongguancun Development Group and Beijing Cultural Investment Development Group attended the launch conference of the Intelligent Cultural and Creative Park.

With the support of the Mentougou District Government, Zhongguancun Western Beijing Development Co., Ltd., after integrating the superior resources of its shareholders Zhongguancun Development Group and Beijing Cultural Investment Development Group in the fields of science and technology and culture, initiated the transformation of the pump factory in March of this year, employing 14 workers of the factory as service personnel.

After seven months, the factory had been transformed into a comprehensive science and technology park integrating incubators, acceleration, research and development, office, display, industrial services and integrated artificial intelligence and cultural and creative industries.

It has had a demonstrated effect in delegating non-capital functions and promoting the construction of the scientific and technological innovation center, industrial transformation and upgrading of Western Beijing, and development of the artificial intelligence industry. A further effect has been the re-employment of workers of traditional manufacturing in technology service industries.

On the same day, Tashan Technology, Microchain Technology, Jingcheng Workshop, Mingchuang Kaiyuan, Liuyi Intelligence and Xiaocunguan Technology became the first enterprises to settle in the park. Tashan Technology, the first company in China to focus on the industrialization of artificial intelligence touch sensor chips, is developing a universal AI tactile sensor chip based on the nation's first capacitive laboratory established in cooperation with the University of Manchester.

The project, aimed at breaking the bottleneck in business applications of service-based robots, was launched at the Major Achievements Release Conference of the 2019 Zhongguancun Forum. Microchain Technology is a robot vision company engaged in the development of machine cognition technology.

The park also signed a cooperation agreement with the Beijing Branch of China Mobile to build a 5G demonstration park and has demonstrated a 5G application. It has also signed cooperation agreements with the Academy of Artificial Intelligence, Akceler and the Investment and Scientific and Technological Finance Branch of Zhongguancun Development Group to promote the development of the park.

After the launch event, the first industrial service activity in the park -- The Gate of the Future Zhongguancun (Western Beijing) Artificial Intelligence + Computing Industry Development Forum -- was held, at which experts from Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Institute of Technology, Sugon, Mininglamp Data, Elens Data, Jusfoun Big Data, Netnic and the Beijing Branch of China Mobile gave speeches and held discussions on algorithms in the artificial intelligence field.

Discussions covered hashrates, frontier development trends in data and applications and the industrial development direction of intelligent computing in Mentougouyuan Park. Leaders of Didi Chuxing, Cambricon, Glodon, Zhonglian Yungang, Aubo Intelligence, Jingdiao Technology, ObjectEye, Shendao GPS, Ligong Huahui, the China Semiconductor Industry Association and the China Communications Industry Association attended the event.

The Gate to the Future series forum focuses on branding and the industrialization of artificial intelligence innovation technologies launched by the Mentougou District Committee Government, the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Zhongguancun Development Group. It aims to promote the development of Western Beijing and increase exchanges between domestic and foreign entrepreneurs, scientists, and investors.
