The Scientific and Technological Achievements Conference and AI Industry Forum of Peking University (PKU)were launched at the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center on June 14.

Huang Tiejun, president of the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, delivered a keynote speech on the past and future of AI, which summarized the evolution and development trends of cutting-edge research in the field and its development modes while offering a detailed introduction to the layout of China's AI development.

Lyu Chenchong, an alumnus of Peking university as well as founder and CEO of Beijing Yizhun AI Co, gave a keynote speech on the practice and thinking behind AI medical imaging.

During the speech, he discussed the establishment of Yizhun AI at the end of 2017 and its focus on AI-assisted medical imaging diagnosis that helps doctors to finish AI medical research efficiently and independently.

Three AI projects from PKU were released at the Scientific and Technological Achievements Conference.

"Allocating Medical Resources to Primary Hospitals and Improving the Quality of Radiotherapy of Primary Hospitals through AI", issued by Wu Hao, deputy director of the Radiology Department of Beijing Cancer Hospital, put forth a way to allocate medical resources to primary hospitals and improve the quality of their radiotherapy by applying an intelligent treatment model independently developed and based on AI in the clinical practices of primary hospitals.

The "gStore Map Database", issued by Zou Lei, a professor from the Institute of Computer Science and Technology of PKU, can be widely used in many fields such as big data management for government, knowledge graph service for enterprises and multi-source data fusion analysis.

The "aiXcoder-Intelligent Programming Robot", issued by Li Ge, an associate professor from PKU's Institute of Software affiliated to the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, is an intelligent programming robot which can help developers write code more smoothly.

Yao Weihao, head of the Office of Science and Technology of PKU, said that the university is one of the pioneering universities in China in the AI field and home to the widest range of related disciplines.

At present, more than 100 teachers are engaged in AI-related research, forming a relatively complete AI discipline layout and research system, and promoting the industrialization of a number of scientific and technological achievements.

Yao also said that PKU will focus on strengthening innovation in the transformation mechanism of scientific and technological achievements, and will carry out more in-depth cooperation with the government, enterprises and investment institutions, as well as in resource sharing and industrial convergence, so as to promote the construction of the Beijing National Science and Technology Innovation Center and high-quality economic development.

Attendees also include leaders of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, the Office of Science and Technology of PKU, Peking University Health Science Center and Beijing Cancer Hospital, as well as representatives from universities, scientific research institutions, technology transfer service institutions, technology and finance investment institutions and other relevant enterprises.

This event is the first scientific and technological achievements transformation conference in the Beijing exhibition area and part of the 2019 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week.
