Lenovo Group launched a new global wireless roaming service called Lenovo Connect, together with its laptop with e-SIM service at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) in Barcelona, Spain, on Feb 27.

The move highlighted the company's resolve to build a new smart internet platform and promote the development of global smart internet.

Wang Shuai, vice-president of Lenovo Group and general manager of Lenovo Connect, released the new product which was developed in cooperation with China Unicom, and other Chinese and foreign telecom operators and SIM card manufacturers.

Without a tangible card, the e-SIM is rewritable and can switch network operators at any time.

Lenovo Connect first applied e-SIM services to several Lenovo laptops and tablets with Lenovo Connect built in. Users can use their devices across-regions, across-networks, across-devices, across-accounts, and across-industries services upon unpacking.

"GSMA officially released the standards for e-SIM last year. Lenovo actively researched and developed to promote the commercial application of the product as soon as possible," said Wang.

"Lenovo Connect will provide users in different regions with localized communication network services and a global one-stop service," he added.
