Intel opens innovation lab at Zhongguancun Innoway

Zhongguancun Innoway and Intel Corporation have reached agreement on establishing an open innovation laboratory, and held a launching ceremony on Oct 14.

Yao Hongbo, president of the Zhongguancun Innoway operating companies, said Zhongguancun and Intel Corporation have a long history of cooperation.

The Zhongguancun Innoway-Intel Lab intends to make full use of the innovation and entrepreneurship service advantage of Zhongguancun and the leading intelligent hardware technology advantage and industrial resources of Intel to hasten integration of intelligent hardware and innovative and entrepreneurial resources.

Yao added the joint lab aims to better support the research and development of cutting-edge technological programs.

The joint lab has three main functions: as an innovation research base, a demonstration exchange center and a program accelerating service platform.

The innovation base will offer makers advanced experimental facilities and offices and the exchange center will provide makers and hardware enthusiasts with hardware training.

In terms of accelerating provision of service, the lab offers an entire industrial chain including marketing, financing, and technical and manufacturing support.

The Zhongguancun Innoway-Intel Open Laboratory will not only be a place for experiments and research, but also a base where makers and hardware lovers can learn more about intelligent hardware and a window for entrepreneurs to obtain one-stop intelligent hardware entrepreneurial resources.

Li Desheng, general manager of the China strategic cooperation and innovation business department of Intel Corporation, said Intel also wishes that through the establishment of the joint lab, intelligent hardware will have a wider influence in Beijing and even the world at large.

The Zhongguancun Innoway is devoted to cooperating with leading enterprises no matter where they are located. It searches for new allies through building open joint labs, making joint incubation plans and organizing geek challenge competitions to develop closer relations between entrepreneurial and top companies and promote integration between innovative entrepreneurship and the overall economy.
