Zhongguancun opens innovation center in Germany

The Zhongguancun science park (Z-park) in Beijing has announced that it has established its second science and technology innovation center overseas in Heidelberg, Germany to provide enterprises in Beijing's Z-park a site in Europe and a hub for start-up companies in Germany for winning results.

At the center’s ceremony, Beijing’s executive vice mayor, Li Shixiang, who led a delegation there, noted that the cities are expecting greater cooperation in science and technology innovation, manufacturing, especially between "Made in China 2025" and the German "Industry 4.0", to help Beijing become an intelligent manufacturing city.

Also at the ceremony, leaders from both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding and investment agreements, with representatives of 20 Z-park enterprises, including Xiaomi, Huawei and Top Electric taking part.

Organizers say that Z-parks first overseas innovation center, in Silicon Valley, in California US, was set up in May of this year and that the new one will be built in three phases.
