Intel is working closely with Zhongguancun, a high-tech hub, to develop its Maker Space, according to media reports.

The Intel China Research Center (ICRC) has close relationships with universities, research institutes and high-tech companies in the Zhongguancun area, said Song Jiqiang, head of the ICRC.

Song said that thanks to internal innovation, the ICRC has improved its potential to attract and keep talent despite the global brain drain.

Since launching in April, 2015, The Intel Maker Space Accelerator has helped makers to turn their ideas into reality, pushing innovation and entrepreneurship. It focuses on artificial intelligence, virtual reality, cloud computing and big data.

The Maker Space Alliance was founded in Sep. 2015, and has ties with six universities and four institutions in the Zhongguancun area.

In a promotion show in Shenzhen in February, twelve projects, picked from 300 nationwide, demonstrated how innovation can work together with upstream-downstream industries.

Guo Hong, director of the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park, said that R&D centers in Beijing, such as the Intel China Research Center (ICRC), play a vital role in the development of Zhongguancun.

Many fast-growing enterprises in Zhongguancun are looking forward to working with Intel, said Guo, adding that “Intel is sure to find more good partners here at Zhongguancun”.
