December 11 was a big day for the big data industry in 2014 as representatives in the circle came to share their opinions on the commercialization of the data resources in Beijing’s Zhongguancun Software Park.

The one-day-long event, which was organized by Asiainfo, Cloud Valley, GCM, Zhongguancun Big Data Industry Alliance, and BeagleData, invited specialists from leading enterprises in the big data industry, including the chairman of Baidu’s big data business Xue Zhenghua, and Pranab Ghosh, a software professional particularly focusing on cloud, big data and data science from the US.

Their presentations broadened the audience’s vision on the application of big data in people’s daily lives and showed how the data could change their lifestyle.

At the round table meeting, researchers on communication technology and smart cities, as well as industrial leaders and governmental departments, discussed the data asset management situation and trends, and had a high-end brainstorm on creating a better environment for the industry’s development.

There was also a news conference for the strategic cooperation between the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) and AsiaInfo, a Beijing-based telecommunications software developer.

The group will help the DRC build a big data-based platform for its research on industries, such as a prediction on the industry’s future development.

In addition, AsiaInfo brought a software platform that uses a wide range of data applications and can be of great help in business operations and decision making, based on data analysis.

A tailored device that facilitated data analysis applications and has multifunctions, including calculation, storage, and networking, also made its debut at the conference in the morning.

In the afternoon, officials from government departments and professionals from the industries of telecommunications, insurance and finance held talks on the roles of different parties in promoting the business innovation of big data’s commercialization.

The Big Data Day, which was initiated by Zhongguancun National Science Park in 2012, has become an annual gathering for players in this industry.

As a pioneer in carrying out the big data national strategy, Zhongguancun launched an alliance to help commercialize and innovate the big data-related technology, products and services, on Dec 13, 2012.
