Beijing IBI encourages innovation

The Science and Technology Service Center of Fengtai Park, also known as the Beijing International Business Incubator (IBI), Zhongguancun Science Park, was established in 1994.

Starting in 2000, the Incubator has been working hard to integrate its resources and form an innovation network, taking advantage of the brand effect and favorable policies of Zhongguancun Science Park.

The administrative committee of Zhongguancun Fengtai Park cooperated with state-owned enterprisesas well as private enterprises in establishing a total of 16 incubator member companies and formed a network with diverse investment bodies.

Currently, there are three national level incubation centers, four city level incubators and 11 district level incubators. About 1,900 small and medium sized science and technology companies settled down in the park, offering 50,000 job opportunities.

The Beijing IBI is the main service institution at Fengtai Park, and has played a key role in improving the regional investment environment.

Beijing IBI has developed a service platform with innovation, skills, and funding as its main characteristic.

Fengtai Incubation Enterprises have successfully applied 29 "National Torch Plan Projects" and 36 national key products. They have also got a lot of support from the National Innovation Fund.

The IBI has held 14 sessions for Science and Technology Small-and-medium sized enterprises and two sessions on the theme of "Seminar on the establishment of science parks and incubators" for international professionals. The seminars have been an effective platform for the companies' going global strategy.

A total of 321 entrepreneurs from 50 countries and regions have received training here. The Beijing IBI also signed agreements with international students coming from 32 countries such as Cuba, Pakistan and Greece. It has also set up stable cooperative relations with over 30 international science parks and incubators.

Representatives of numerous international organizations, such as the United Nations Development Program, have visited the IBI.

The IBI has gained lots of honors in the past 20 years, such as "Advanced National High-tech Zone Incubators" by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is also listed as an "Excellent Services Award of the Science and Technology Service Organization" by the China Technology Innovation Association.

Beijing IBI is making great efforts to cultivate companies in emerging industries and leading entrepreneurs with the ambition to become a top incubator in China.
