Jiuhua Mountain temple fair set to draw large crowds
Updated: 2011-07-28

The 29th Jiuhua Mountain temple fair will be held from August 1 to 30, according to the management committee of Jiuhua Mountain in East China’s Anhui province.

Jiuhua Mountain is one of China’s most renowned Buddhist resorts. The other three are Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang province, Wutai Mountain in Shanxi province and Emei Mountain in Sichuan province.

Approved by the National Tourism Administration, this temple fair is part of China’s cultural heritage.

This year’s event includes religious scripture reading ceremonies, praying, bell ringing, and lighting lotus flower lanterns. There will be dragon lantern shows, lion dances, folk opera performances and other outdoor traditional Chinese cultural activities.

A direct bus to the venue will be put into service, and a ceremony will be held to celebrate its first operation.
