Ningguo city in the spotlight of Yangtze River Delta media
Updated: 2010-07-21

Press center leaders from 50 cities and districts of China recently joined Yangtze Delta Area media on a trip to Ningguo city of Anhui province.

Ningguo city, located in the southeast of Anhui province, faces Suzhou and Hangzhou on the east and Huangshan Mountain in the west.

The city connects seven counties and cities of Zhejiang and Anhui province, making it an important transportation route between the north and south.

Ningguo city covers an area of 2,487 square kilometers and has a population of 380,000.

Since 2000, Ningguo’s overall economic strength has enjoyed a leading position in Anhui. In 2009, Ningguo was awarded the title of one of the “Top 100 Chinese Small and Medium-sized Cities of Scientific Development” and “Top 100 Chinese Small and Medium-sized Cities of Regional Potentials”. Undoubtedly, Ningguo is one of the most vibrant cities in the country.

Ningguo’s superior natural conditions make it a great vacation destination and a perfect place to invest. With a forest coverage rate of 75%, Ningguo is known as "the home of Chinese hickory” and “the oxygen bar of Yangtze Delta Area.” The three rivers flowing through Ningguo--Xijin, Dojing and Zhongjin rivers--provide visitors with a view of wetlands.

Qinglong Lake, known for its picturesque peaks and ridges over the country, Banqiao Natural Reserve, the last virgin forest in the northeast of north subtropics and the 300 hectares of yews, famous for endangered flora species, establish Ningguo as a vacation resort with high investment values.

Ningguo is also the headquarters of some characteristic industries. Eighty percent of enterprises in Ningguo have cooperation with enterprises in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. The city has formed a cluster of industries that produce rubber parts for automobiles, wear-resistant casing and electronic devices as well as some new hi-tech industries that produce energy-saving building materials, biomedicine and electronic information. Ningguo is crowned “the home of Chinese wear-resisting casings” and was given the title of “Most Technologically Advanced County of Anhui Province”.

With beautiful scenery and superior natural resources, Ningguo will speed up the construction of an eco-friendly city with strong industrial momentum, presenting to the world a back garden of metropolises in the Yangtze Delta River.
