A man has been arrested after stealing a car to get to court.

The AP reports that Samuel Botchvaroff was due to appear in court to face a previous charge of auto theft.

After leaving his arraignment, he was arrested while sitting inside a Range Rover outside the Vallejo courthouse in California.

Botchvaroff reportedly told police that his car had been impounded and he had no other way of getting there.

He was sent to Solano County Jail on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property.
