Prevention is the best medicine for cardiovascular diseases, experts said at the 20th Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology in Beijing.

They called for more efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle and control dangerous factors, such as smoking, high blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, and obesity.

More than 10,000 experts, scholars and researchers from 30 countries and regions around the world took part in the event early this month.

More than 180 professional forums were held during this year's four-day meeting, covering basic and clinical cardiology, interventional cardiology, cerebrovascular diseases study, diabetes study, psychosomatics and other related fields.
