A Beijing court recently ordered the city's Railway Bureau to pay 100,000 yuan ($14,631) as compensation to an army officer who was roughed up and severely injured by five railway clerks last year.

Zhao, who hails from Shandong province, had a quarrel with the clerks while departing from the Beijing Railway Station, following which the five clerks bashed him up.

The victim sued the bureau for 650,000 yuan in compensation.

Besides 100,000 yuan in compensation, the court ordered the bureau to reimburse the victim's medical expenses.
