Deaths by lightning on Wall: Authorities sued

Parents of a newlywed couple who were struck to death by lightning at the Huairou section of the Great Wall of China in Beijing have sued authorities in charge of the tourist spot for 600,000 yuan ($87,800).

After being struck by lightning, the couple fell off a steep drop on the Wall and died of severe injuries on June 13.

Their parents blamed the poor management on the section, where there were no facilities to protect visitors from lightning strikes.
