Escape into manure pit proves futile for thieves

Three men, who had allegedly carjacked a taxi driver last Wednesday night and sped off with the car, attempted to evade police officers by hiding in a shallow manure pit.

The three thieves were discovered with the stolen taxi at a tollbooth after the cabbie had informed the police of the incident.

During the police's pursuit, the trio abandoned the taxi and jumped into a two-meter deep manure trough outside a market in Luannan county, Hebei province.

Surprisingly, the officers jumped in after the trio and arrested them.

The alleged thieves will stand trial for the robbery this week.
