Cancer treatment improved
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-07-29 10:37 A new technique, Nano-Carbon Suspension Injection, will greatly improve the surgical treatment of gastric cancer, according to the latest research. The result of the study was presented at a forum held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, by the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association of the Professional Committee of Gastric Cancer. Professor Chen Zhixi, with the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, who led the research, explains the new technique is a kind of local injection with lymphatic targeting agents. When injected into tumorous tissue, it can help doctors identify the affected lymph nodes and determine the size and scope of the required lymphadenectomy. "This will greatly reduce tissue damage and decrease the relapse rate among cancer patients," Chen says. The technique, developed by Chongqing Laimei Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, can also be used in lymphatic chemotherapy for malignant tumors. |
