Cat survives crossbow attack

A cat has survived a crossbow attack after the arrow narrowly missed its vital organs.

One-year-old Dave spent three nights at a veterinary surgery before returning home to his eight-year-old owner Phoebe Childerhouse and her sister Hannah, Lynn News reports.

The girls' mother Juliet said: "The police thought it was someone riding past who shot him, but in our view it was a clean shot at close range."

Vet Sarah Colegrave said: "It is remarkable he survived really. If it had punctured any of the major or significant airways he would have had air leaking into his chest and his lung would have collapsed.

"If it had gone through one of the big blood vessels he would have died."
