Nova French Bar & Restaurant

There are not that many French restaurants that can lay claim to offering traditional French fare in Shanghai. If you don’t count the overpriced restaurants with crystal chandeliers in historical mansions, there are even less to choose from. Nova French Bar & Restaurant has been around for a couple of years along Dagu Road, amongst other restaurants occupying the stretch. Like most emerging restaurants, Nova has experienced teething anecdotal problems, but from the meal I had, it looks like this funky French bistro will be around a little longer.

Like a typical Parisian bistro, Nova offers a comfortable and relaxed setting. With a simple functional décor, French chic comes across with the combination of jazzy paintings featuring Parisian waiters, fat chefs and the famous Eiffel Tower, but the piece de resistance is the long bar which is a welcome sight to any weary and hungry customer.
