A stranded dolphin was set free after fishermen contacted fishery officials and police in Wenchang, Hainan province, on Monday.

Police and the fishery department dispatched rescue workers after they learned about the dolphin's dilemma in the city's Chishui Bay in Shazhen township.

The dolphin was transferred to a local rescue center for marine animals for treatment.

The dolphin, which is 2 m long and 50 cm wide, weighs more than 150 kg.

It will be released back into the sea when it recovers.
