STAGE OF Beijing

The Israel Ballet will present two classic repertoires during Serial performances designed for the Spring Festival will last until Feb 8, including a folk instrument concert, Peking Opera, symphony concert and cross-talk show. Jan 29 sees a vocal concert of classical folk songs. Helmed by conductor Zhang Zhen and accompanied by pianist Qian Zhiwen and the Beijing Voice of Spring Chorus, the concert includes On The Field Of Great Prospects, Youth Dance, and Jasmine Flower.

The dancing troupe of China National Opera and Dance Theater will stage a gala show of song and dance. With four chapters, it narrates ancient poetry, friendship, love, family affections and expectations for spring. The repertoires of the 50-year-old dancing troupe draw inspiration from classical folk dances and regional opera dances.

The Peony Pavilion, the classic Kunqu Opera, is on at the Imperial Granary. The Imperial Granary was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty 600 years ago, exactly the time the Kunqu Opera was written.
