Archeologist's anti-scam blog a big hit

A Chongqing municipality archeologist who recently launched an online blog to expose deceitful tricks is winning over countless fans.

Li Bizhong, 46, a researcher and assistant director of the Chongqing Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology, launched the blog two years ago and has since posted more than 1,000 articles to expose various deceitful tricks often used to cheat innocent people.

"I saw such cheaters and deceitful tricks many times and I hate them very much. I hope my blog can help people avoid being cheated and crackdown on the cheaters," Lin said.

Lin's blog has won over so much support from netizens that they plan to organize an anti-fraud union to tackle scams.

A woman in Chongqing municipality managed to use her only available finger to dial for help last Friday although she was tied with her hands behind her back

Li Li (not her real name), 20, woke up to find that a stranger was standing in front of her in the morning.

"The man with a knife said he wanted money and would harm me if I resisted him, and then he tied me up," she said.

She said the man took 10,000 yuan ($1,460) from her house.

After the robber ran away, the woman got down from her bed and used the one free finger to push the phone numbers to call her mother. Afterwards, they called police.

Farmer admits to killing wife after gambling spat

A man in Changji, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, was arrested recently after he allegedly killed his wife who often complained about his gambling habit.

Li, 43, a farmer in the city's Ergong village, killed his wife on Dec 22 after they quarreled over the money they made from selling corn. He wanted to use it for gambling.

After the murder, Li took her body to a remote location away from the village and told villagers and relatives that his wife disappeared. He then went to the local police station to get help to find her.

Li confessed to the crime after police found some clues that linked him to the disappearance.

Comatose dad weeps after son's repentant words

A prisoner didn't expect that his father, hospitalized and in a coma, would shed tears when he visited him recently and begged for forgiveness.

Yan Xiang, 25, the prisoner, was sentenced in 2007 to nine years in jail on drug charges. He was granted special permission on Wednesday to see his father.

In the hospital ward in Mianyang, Sichuan province, Yan kneeled down besides his father's bed and cried for repentance.

To his surprise, his father began to shed tears although he was in deep sleep, after his son vowed to become a good man.

Police and other prisoners have donated about 10,000 yuan ($1,460) to Yan's father.
