After more than five years' planning and designing, the show was staged in Yangshuo on March 20, 2004. Stretched 2 km along the Lijiang River, and featuring 12 mountain peaks, the backdrop is one of the world's most natural theaters. The large-scale lighting and special smoke-effects system creates a dream-like world for an audience of more than 2,300 people. Besides, the sound system of the theater is designed invisibly, using the echo of the mountains to gain a natural stereophonic effect. Reflecting the harmonious atmosphere between human and the nature, the show embodies seven parts, including the prelude, red impression, green impression, golden impression, blue impression, silvery impression and the epilogue. Especially in the section of silvery impression, about 200 girls from ethnic groups dressing in sliver-light garments give audiences a magnificent impression. The stunning scenery also reminds people of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, somehow. Except for every January, the show opens every night, with ticket prices ranging from 188 yuan to 688 yuan ($26-98). Last year, the number of Chinese and overseas tourists reached 5 million in Yangshuo, and one fifth of these visitors watched the show. China Daily
