Tequila night(That's Shanghai)
Updated: 2007-12-10 10:54 Tequilaz exudes an irrepressible optimism, an enthusiastic conviction that obstacles will be overcome and things will work out for the best. First and foremost, the bar will have to overcome its schizophrenic branding. This space was formerly Sweet Fajalobi and an odd mixed-menu concept persists. By day, Tequilaz is a Chinese/Surinamese restaurant; when night falls, however, the lights are dimmed, the tables are moved back and, voila, the dance floor is open for business. That said, Tequilaz's cool-as-could-be Mexican owners are likely to succeed. The music here is excellent and the taqueria-style menu is well executed. Most importantly, this bar sets a fun, frenetic mood. These guys know how to party, with generous weekend drink specials and excellent margaritas (RMB 30). In our opinion, the coolest, sexiest and most respectable elements of the Shanghai club scene will make this their Latin-themed playground. Tequilaz |
