Here be monsters

Here be monstersWhen thinking about South Third Ring Road's bars, "here be monsters" might be the first expression that comes to mind.

Intrigued, tbj's intrepid bar-ologists ventured south hoping for a confirmed sighting. After hours navigating the treacherous dark network of alleyways this rare breed of bar was said to inhabit, we chanced across it in an opening between a KTV hall and a chuan'r stand. Its strange markings (bright orange paint, white chains, Christmas decorations) explained why it was unable to attract customers. Unperturbed we headed into the belly of the beast, where the inexplicable Christmas theme persisted. However, a sizeable stage warmed our affections to this strange creature which, one day, might give birth to the next big thing on Beijing/s rock scene. Or not.
