Secret cellar for wine lovers

(That's Beijing)

Secret cellar for wine loversThe triumvirate of Lido's newest entertainment center is, at last, complete.

Located in the basement of the Trio complex, The Cellar initially appears to be a high-class tribute to US theme-restaurant, Medieval Times. Thankfully, instead of busty wenches purveying frothy flagons of ale, The Cellar is populated with some of the finest wines to be found in Beijing.

Those on a budget should consider scampering upstairs to Frank's for the pub quiz prizes as said vintages range from RMB 650 (Bodega Norton Perdriel Single Vineyard-Mendoza, Argentina) to RMB 25,200 (Petrus Pomerol, 1988-only one bottle in stock). The wine list's other notable inclusions have to be the Chateau Leoville-Las Cases, 2nd Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Julien, 1988, (RMB 3,075), or the cheaper option of the Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin AOC, 1998 (RMB 786).

Those interested in compiling a wine collection of their own can join Club 88, The Cellar's very own wine club (lifetime membership joining fee: RMB 12,000, annual fee: RMB 3,888), and enjoy the benefit of personal wine lockers that are temperature controlled (each key is RMB 3,888 for one year).

For anyone offended by the thought of supping their wine in the presence of the great unwashed, private rooms are available at a minimum spend of RMB 2,000.
