Opened by a pair of artists-one is a painter and the other a fashion designer-Area provides the perfect setting for the Lido's stylish set.

According to one of the owners, they were attempting to create a modern, sleek, and upscale atmosphere with an artistic feel. They've certainly succeeded with Area, which is filled with white sofa beds of different shapes surrounding a central dance floor. A garden is also under construction and once completed it will connect Area directly to Si De Park, a huge sports themed park behind the club. As the owners gush, this will give them the space to host a wide variety of art exhibitions.

With parties every weekend featuring DJs from all over the world, Area hopes to attract the young and stylish clubbers it is designed for. Those looking to be seen might want to forget about bars on Gongti Xilu and head out to Area, but don't forget your wallet or purse, as most of the club's cocktails are RMB 50-60.
