Xi to meet Caribbean leaders

Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet leaders from nine Caribbean countries during his stay in Trinidad and Tobago in early June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.

Apart from the president of Trinidad and Tobago, leaders from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Guyana, Surinam and Barbados will also hold talks with Xi during his official visit to the Caribbean, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Kunsheng told reporters at a media briefing.

According to a schedule by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xi will pay State visits to Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica and Mexico from May 31 to June 6.

He will then meet US President Barack Obama at Sunnylands, on the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Estate in California, on June 7 and 8, the first China-US summit since Xi took office as president in March.
