JINAN - Those who drank with people caught drunken driving will be considered responsible for the drivers' infringement of the Road Traffic Safety Law in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, according to new rules released by local police authorities that came into effect on Feb 10.

Passengers will be brought to the police station and questioned to see if they tried to convince the offender not to drink or not to drive. The names of those who didn't try will be submitted to their workplaces.

Drivers who violated the traffic safety rules will be named and shamed through the media, especially celebrities and those who work as public servants, according to Cao Fengyang, deputy head of the city's traffic police.

Archives bearing information of those who drove under the influence of alcohol will be established and submitted to the insurance regulatory department, which will affect the drivers' vehicle insurance in future.
