Colleges and universities in Beijing will establish special funds to provide subsidies for basic canteen food at a time of rising prices, Beijing News reported Wednesday.
The Beijing Municipal Commission of Education suggests colleges and universities withdraw five percent of tuition fees and other funds to stabilize meal prices in 2012, according to a commission official.
In addition, products from grain, oil and vegetables production bases will be provided to school canteens directly and the price is 15-20 percent lower than the traditional market value.
