BEIJING - A mini movie themed "bring happiness home" produced by beverage giant PepsiCo was released in Beijing on Wednesday calling for more people to return home and spending the upcoming Chinese New Year with their family.
"The Spring Festival is the most significant holiday on the Chinese lunar calendar and a key time for family reunion. We hope more people to enjoy family love during the time," said Richard Lee, chief marketing officer at PepsiCo Greater China.
The festival will fall on Jan 23, 2012.
A recent survey conducted by the China Association of Social Workers and Horizon Research Consultancy Group showed that about 70 percent people are put off going home during the Spring Festival because of crowded trains, different lifestyles and other factors.
The mini movie, which marks a warm family get-together, aims to get more young people to feel how parents look forward to their children returning for a reunion, Lee said.
Zhao Pengqi, vice-president of the China Association of Social Workers, showed support the promotion and said we should embrace a close family bond.
PepsiCo also established a fund to help 100 people get home for the holidays.
