WUHAN- Fifteen people who were injured in a Thursday explosion in central China's Hubei province are in stable condition, local authorities said Friday.

The explosion took place at about 5:30 pm on the sidewalk outside of a China Construction Bank (CCB) branch in the Hongshan district of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, police said. The explosion killed two people and injured 15 others.

The blast littered the sidewalk and the road in front of the bank with glass shards and other debris, as well as damaged facilities inside the bank, an adjacent drugstore and several vehicles parked nearby.

Sources from Hubei's Public Security Department said no money was stolen from the bank or a security van that was picking up cash when the explosion happened.

An investigatory team has been set up to look into the explosion.

Several bank employees and security guards were injured, suffering slight injuries, sources with CCB's Hubei headquarters said.

An initial investigation showed that the blast was triggered by an unidentified object outside of the bank, according to the police.
