On Nov 19, Terry Gou, president of the Foxconn Group, attended the awards ceremony for the "Star of Foxconn - 2011 Excellent Employee".

"From January to October this year, China's total volume of imports and exports has reached more than $3 trillion, with Foxconn accounting for 5.7 percent," said Terry Gou, the man who is also known as the "King of Global OEM". This achievement is not only a miracle in China, but also a global competitiveness created by our employees."

Against the background of current global economic tension and the employment reduction trend across the world, Terry Gou said Foxconn has no plan to cut down its work force.

"Employees are the most treasured wealth in Foxconn, and I am responsible for what I am saying – that Foxconn will not shed jobs," Gou said.

"Foxconn has maintained a workforce of nearly 1.2 million in China, and we will adopt automatic machineries and equipments in 2012 and 2013 to ensure the quality of our products and make manufacturing process more accurate and safer," he added.

Gou also noted they will "continue increasing the investment in our Chengdu factory in 2012. Moreover, our smart phone project, a collaborative project with ChangHong, will start production next year to create more employment opportunities in the long run".

Earlier, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Terry Gou said Foxconn would expand its production capacity and introduce the world's new leading technologies and products to Sichuan province. By 2013, the annual output of the tablet PC of Foxconn Chengdu base is expected to reach 100 billion.

The wave of the tablet PC generated by iPad has swept the world. Terry Gou affirmed the world's largest iPad manufacturing base would be settled in Chengdu. By then, two thirds of the world's iPads will be made in Chengdu.

Gou also said in the following several years, three to five affiliated companies of the Foxconn Group plan to list in the domestic market.

"We will introduce more leading technologies and products to China, and Chengdu will no doubt be one of the most critical choices for us," Gou said.
