Beijing – Municipal labor authorities are working to establish a committee that will coordinate relations between workers and employers, officials revealed at a news conference on Monday.

The Municipal Labor Relationship Coordination Consultant Committee will be established to lay the groundwork for better labor relations, according to Beijing Deputy Mayor Ding Xiangyang.

Founded by the city government, Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, Beijing Enterprise Federation, Beijing Industry of Industry and Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, the committee will concentrate on solving labor disputes. It will work to improve the contract system used in employment, to achieve a reasonable distribution of salaries and to promote corporate management in a democratic manner, Ding said.

The date of the committee's start is still undetermined, according to Wang Haiyan, a publicity officer of the labor bureau.

From 2008 to 2010, 65,600 cases having to do with the illegal treatment of laborers have been dealt with, the watchdog said.

"To promote harmonious labor relations we should always solve the problems concerning worker's interests," said Ding.

"We should also continue improving laws and regulations concerning labor relations."
