Water shortage worsens in Yunnan
Children ride bikes by a reservoir which has been dry since earlier this year in Gangchang village, Huize county in Qujin city of Southwest China's Yunnan province on March 6, 2010. The drought emergency has been upgraded to the highest level by officials with an increasingly worsening water crisis for the residents as well as livestock. According to the forecast of the local meteorological department, a less-than-normal rainfall is expected this March adding to the deteriorating conditions. Ensuring the drinking water is safe is the most important task for the local government. [Photo/Xinhua]
