The defendant, Li Zhuang, was detained on December 12 with the approval of the Chongqing municipal procuratorate, said a Chongqing Municipal Government official.

Li was allegedly implicated by his client Gong Gangmo, who faces charges of organizing, leading and participating in a criminal organization, murder, and selling and transporting illegal drugs and guns, the official said.

The trail in the Jiangbei District People's Court is still underway.
