Policeman injured in clash with protestors in Taichuang

TAICHUANG, Taiwan: A police officer was injured on Wednesday night during a clash with demonstrators protesting against the visit of Beijing's top envoy Chen Yunlin, local police said.

The policeman suffered a head injury after being pushed down from a truck when trying to stop a group of demonstrators who were firing firecrackers towards the hotel where Chen stayed, according to video footage provided by the police.

Six protestors were detained for endangering public security after the clash, the police said.
