More than 90 percent of women who hold PhD degrees are finding it difficult to find a husband in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

According to a recent survey, only 7 percent of these women said they had no difficulty.

The survey conducted by a local media interviewed several hundred PhD holders online last month.

The traditional idea of seeking a husband of similar educational qualification, and missing the best years of life due to studies, were the major reasons given by the women.

They were also looking for men earning at least 8,000 yuan ($1,143) a month.
