LHASA: Major Internet portals in China, including Yahoo and Sina, on Friday carried images of some of the Lhasa riot suspects wanted by police.

Phone numbers for the Lhasa public security bureau were posted, along with the images of the suspects taken from videos. The bureau called on the public to provide information that may lead to their capture.

Bureau sources said that, starting on Monday, they had issued 21 warrants for individuals suspected of participating in the unrest that broke out in the Tibetan capital last Friday.

The violence resulted in looted businesses and burnt-out residences, shops and vehicles, with 13 civilians killed and 325 injured.

Damage is estimated at more than 200 million yuan ($28 million).

The pictures of the suspects were also carried in the local Lhasa media.

Two suspects, No 3 and No 5, have been apprehended by police and a third, No 4, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday night, sources said.

Law enforcement authorities in Tibet issued a notice on Saturday, urging rioters to desist and offering leniency to those who surrendered.

Tibet's higher people's court, the regional people's procuratorate and regional public security bureau said in the notice the rioters had set fire to schools, hospitals, childcare centers, shops and residences, confronted government departments and assaulted law enforcement officers.

They also killed innocent people, the notice said.
