Hong Kong -- Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang said here Friday that Hong Kong would make the most effort to support the Mainland in snowstorm disaster relief work.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Tang conveyed Hong Kong people's sympathies to those affected by the storm, saying that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Government has contacted the Central Government to see what Hong Kong can do to help.

Tang urged Hong Kong factory owners on the Mainland to provide accommodation and food to stranded workers so they can stay in a safe place during the Lunar New Year.

The Hong Kong Government has urged local charity groups to apply for grants from the government's Disaster Relief Fund to provide emergency aid. It will process their applications as soon as possible.

Also, Tang reiterated that the Mainland authorities have taken every measure to ensure a stable food supply to Hong Kong despite the severe snowstorm. Giving thanks to the Mainland authorities' efforts, Tang urged Hong Kong people to be considerate as the food price and supply may fluctuate.
