It has been 4 years since the Baotu spring water started to spew again on September 6th, 2003, which is the longest period since 1976 when another continuous spewing happened.
This has brought vitality to Jinan and made the “Spring City” more distinctive, attractive and popular. To protect spring water by law is one of the city's top priorities.

Since September 27th, 2005, Jinan has carried forward Protecting Famous Spring Water Regulation, which means spring water protection has had legal support.
Under this regulation, Jinan has developed a General Plan for Spring Water Protection and a detailed layout to protect the four spring groups in downtown area, which provided a guarantee for the continuous spewing of spring water.
In April 2006, another regulation-Jinan Emergency Plan for Spring Water Protection- was stipulated, which has provided a further support for keeping the spring water spewing continuously.
