HANGZHOU -- A truck driver was arrested on Friday after police held him accountable for a bus plunge that killed 16 people in east China's Zhejiang Province.

Chen Kexin drove his truck recklessly on an undivided road in Taishun county on August 10 and bumped into a bus running in the opposite direction, according to traffic police.

The collision between the truck and the bus with 23 aboard caused the bus to veer off the road and plunge into a reservoir.

Sixteen people, including the driver of the bus, were killed and one was slightly injured in the accident.

Police said the bus driver also shared the responsibility for the accident due to overloading and overspeeding.
